Vernon Maytone & Friends – Words Of Wisdom

Vernon Maytone ( Vernon Buckley) Started singing in Jamaica from as early as the seventies. He formed the group The Maytones with his neighbour Gladstone Grant and almost instantly went in the studio after auditioning for Alvin Ranglin of GG records in Kingston Jamaica . From the beginning The Maytones were successfully making a string of hits such as Funny Man, Loving Reggae, Serious Love, Madness to name a few. Vernon has written and recorded over three hundred songs that have done very well around the world up to the present. Vernon migrated to Canada in the eighties and has continued his musical journey ever since. One of Vernon’s biggest hit was Money Worries which featured in the Jamaican movie ‘Rockers’. In 2004 he re-recorded Money Worries with Bedouin Soundclash which featured on their album “Sounding a Mosaic” that went gold then Platinum in Canada . Vernon Maytone played a big part in their follow up Album “Street Gospels” with the contribution of two songs plus some backing vocals. That Album went gold. Vernon has also been tour with the group to places like Europe, the United States , and Canada most recent tour on his own was Brazil . Vernon has also been releasing Albums for himself on his own Recording label “Music life Movements”. with help from Not Easy At All Dubshelter in The Netherlands . Albums on the label include “Rocky Road, “Raw” Solid Gold Showcase, Foundation Compilation vol. 1″ with some big names in the Reggae World like U-Roy, Leroy Sibbles, Ken Boothe, the late great Sugar Minott, Jimmy Riley, Linval Thompson, Glen Washington among others and now his brand-new Album “Words Of Wisdom” with tunes that take you back to the Roots of Reggae music.
